With the increasing awareness of the principles of the rule of law in social and state life, the importance of the role and function of advocates as a free, independent and responsible profession will also be realized. As regulated in the Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 18 of 2003 concerning Advocates. In response to this, the advocate profession is clearly demanded to be better in facing all the challenges of the times, not only in their work regarding the judicial process, but also for matters outside the judicial process or non-legality. In other words, now an advocate is required to be skilled, reliable and professional.
The implementation of this special education activity for the advocate profession was carried out on 5-16 October 2020. This activity has several objectives as follows:
- Providing regulatory motivation and a broad and comprehensive understanding of the scope of duties and obligations of the advocate profession.
- Providing broad knowledge and understanding of the professional ethics of an advocate and related laws and regulations.
- Provide understanding and mastery of fields of law related to the scope of work of the advocate profession.
- Provide understanding and provision of abilities and skills regarding case handling techniques, both in litigation and non-litigation.
- Fulfills one of the requirements to take the advocate professional exam as regulated in Law no. 18 of 2003.
Education, especially the advocate profession, is carried out by delivering material exposures, dialogues and interactive discussions. In addition, in order to obtain good input and evaluate the participants’ understanding of the results of the teaching delivered, specifically in formal legal materials (acarapidan andacaraperdata) participants were given training in the skills of compiling letters / memories regarding the handling of criminal cases and handling of civil cases.
